The Share Via SMS team built the ShareViaSMS (SVS) app as a free app. This service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our Service. If you choose to use our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect the content of your messages, pictures, or audio that you send through the app. All of that content is delivered via your mobile network (GSM) and stays on your device or with your carrier. We do not have access to it.

Information collection and use

For a better experience, our Service uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify your device or how you use the app. The main providers we use are Google (Firebase, AdMob, Google Maps). Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read:

Analytics

We use analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This is provided by Google Firebase Analytics. The data we collect includes things like which screens are used and general app actions (for example, that a button was tapped). We do not collect the content of your messages, images, or audio—only anonymous usage events (e.g. screen names, feature usage). This helps us improve the app and fix issues.

Crashes and diagnostics

When the app encounters an error, we collect crash reports and related information through Google Firebase Crashlytics. This Log Data may include your device’s IP address, device model, operating system version, app configuration at the time of the error, and the time and date of the crash. This is used only to identify and fix bugs and to provide you with a more stable app.

Advertising

The app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device or advertising identifiers and information about how you interact with ads. This is used to show relevant ads and to measure ad performance. AdMob’s data practices are described in the AdMob Privacy Notice.

Push notifications

We may send you push notifications (e.g. about app updates) using Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. To deliver these, a token or identifier may be shared with Google. This is used only for app functionality (sending you notifications you may have opted in to).

Location

When you use the location feature (for example, to send or view a location in a message), the app may send location coordinates to Google Maps to load and display the map. This data is used only to show you the map and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not store your location on our servers.

Identifiers and similar technologies

This app does not use browser “cookies” in the traditional sense. However, third-party services we use (such as Firebase and AdMob) may use identifiers (e.g. advertising IDs, instance IDs) to provide analytics, crash reporting, and advertising. You can manage or reset such identifiers in your device settings. Refusing or limiting these may affect some features (e.g. personalized ads or push notifications).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Changes are effective when posted. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Data deletion

We do not store user accounts or message content on our servers. Data that stays on your device (e.g. messages, contacts) is removed when you uninstall the app. For data held by third parties (e.g. Google), you can use their tools and settings (e.g. Google account, ad settings) to manage or delete it.
